And, to be able to use this facility, all you need to do is link your bank account and Aadhar card to the cell phone number that you want an ID with.

How to Setup UPI Without Debit Card?

  • Open your UPI payment app and log in
  • After logging in, click on the option ‘Add UPI ID’
  • Now, select the bank account you wish to link to the UPI; make sure it is linked with a phone number that is also linked to your Aadhar
  • Create a UPI ID that complies with the character and format specifications for passwords in the UPI app of your choice
  • Select the option 'Aadhaar-based verification' and agree to the terms and conditions
  • After this, enter the first six digits of your Aadhaar number to verify your identity and click on ‘Proceed’
  • Set a secure UPI PIN for your account, which may be 4 or 6 digits depending on the platform you’re using
  • Enter the One-time Password (OTP) you may have received on your Aadhar-linked mobile number
  • Proceed by entering the UPI PIN that you previously created

How to Reset UPI PIN Without Debit Card?

Just like how you can create a UPI PIN without a debit card, you can also reset or change the UPI PIN using just an Aadhar card. Here are the steps:

  • Go to the payment methods tab which may be labeled My Money, My Payments, or Payment Method depending on the app you’re using
  • Choose the option 'Set/Reset UPI PIN’
  • Select the bank account you wish to link
  • You will receive an SMS from the UPI app to confirm the registered mobile number
  • In the next step, select the latter of the two options - Debit Card-based UPI PIN generation and Aadhar Card-based UPI PIN generation
  • Input the first six or the first four numbers of your Aadhar card depending on what your UPI app asks for
  • Your bank and UIDAI will send you OTPs for authentication; put in both OTPs and your initial UPI PIN will be shown
  • Enter a fresh, four or six-digit UPI PIN
  • Re-enter the PIN you just established
  • Select CONFIRM
